Jonathan M. Casselman


An avid astronomer, Jonathan serves the world-renown Astronomical League
       as its' Youth Observing Awards Coordinator and is an active member
of the Spokane Astronomical Society.
     
At the age of 17, he set the world record in becoming the youngest person to conquer the mighty Herschel 400's.  At 18 years of age, Jonathan gained the distinction of
becoming the first in Astronomical League History to achieve
The Master Observer's Award.

Jonathan was honored with the 2001 International "Youth In Astronomy" Award
and the Jack Horkheimer Exceptional Service by a Young Astronomer Runner-Up Award in Washington, D. C. 

As a Dark-Sky Activist, Jonathan serves as Chairman
of the International Dark-Sky Association's Youth Working Group.

A voice for Dark Skies wherever he goes, his passionate commitment to Dark-Sky Education and his efforts in recruiting youth and adult mentors from around
North America for The Youth IDA-Team, is making a difference
in advancing the cause of  Night Sky Preservation
for future generations.

The International Dark-Sky Association honored him with a
2002 Executive Director's Award.
